It's on the downtown square - very cute location! The food is a burger joint with some special entrees on the menu. The Mac and cheese bites were delicious! They also make their own special sauces.

A reliable staple restaurant. Great place to dine, one of the only places I would withstand the wait time to get a table, because it's good. I love the dragons breath burger, medium cook and fries. Try the Mac n cheese bites they are awesome. They have cold beer on tap that changes frequently and an assortment of fine spirits. Staff is pleasant and attentive even whilst serving a full house.

So we were recommended to this spot by our bartender at Big Creek Distilling when we were up here in January. We went then and this weekend we went back again for lunch before we toured the Dahlanega square. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table at 12:30 on a Saturday, but they notify you by text so you can walk around the nearby shops while you wait. These burgers are just awesome so many options. I had the Dragons breath this time and it was perfect. Their horseradish mayo is great! We tried trash pile this time for an appetizer and that was nearly a meal in itself! The wife out an Irish Whisky cocktail this time called a Spiritual Tea She really enjoyed it, very light and refreshing. Definable a good spot to stop while you are touring around up here.

Spirits is a must whenever I'm in Dahlonega. They never disappoint. Even though it is usually packed, it still has a cozy vibe. Our waitress was super nice and gave us the specials while we tried to figure out what we wanted. My friend went with the Fungi Philly special. She was happy to see it had both mushrooms and beef. She said it was really good but more mushroom forward than she was expecting. I had the trash pile as my main meal. The tots were perfectly crispy. The beef was well seasoned. It's the trash pile that keep me coming back. My girlfriend had a Bluesion chicken sandwich. She said it was cooked perfectly and super flavorful.

I visited this eatery in December 2023 during a visit to Dahlonega. It is conveniently located in the city square. We actually tried to view this past December, but couldn't fathom the 2-hour wait. The food is really tasty. This is an elevated tavern experience, where you find the warm community and good beverages of a tavern but with food that value thoughtful use of high-quality ingredients. Every thing we ate was delicious - from the Brussels sprouts to the fried green tomatoes to the burgers (Dragon's Breath for me, the chicken Imposter for my husband). Expect a wait during dinner hours. My advice is to get on the wait list before you get really hungry so that you can continue exploring the square while you wait. But the wait is worth it!

Spirits Tavern is worth the wait you are likely to have to get seated. We wandered in after an early Wednesday evening wine tasting nearby and called ahead to get on the waitlist (definitely do this because they regularly have a line out the door), so we were just walking up to the tavern when they texted that our table was ready. They had given us a 30-minute estimate, but it was really closer to 20. With a vaguely goth vibe that doesn't take itself too seriously and steers shy of tackiness, you're pretty much guaranteed an easygoing, fun meal with servers like Gabbie. The seating is tight but not uncomfortable, and the prices were a pleasant surprise for the area. We ordered a beer and two sandwiches (grilled cheese and BLT with fried egg) with fries for a total of $25. We paid way more in other Dahlonega restaurants for far inferior food. The sandwiches were grilled to a delightful, buttery crunch, and the fries were skinny and crisp and salted just as they should be. The grilled cheese with a variety of cheese, including pepper jack for a subtle kick, was a quirky nod to a childhood favorite, and they added greens and tomato at my request to elevate it even more. Bonus points for adding spring mix instead of the iceberg lettuce I was expecting. I can't remember the last time I cleaned my plate, but I definitely did. The restroom was clean and surprisingly big for such a small establishment, and although at first I was put off by the dim lighting, it did fit in with the dark academia/vaguely haunted mansion theme quite well. Public restrooms don't often make me smile, but I did appreciate the clever and unexpected touches I discovered here. Nicely played, Spirits Tavern. Of all the places we ate in and around Dahlonega during our visit, Spirits Tavern was a favorite.

One of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Service is spectacular and the atmosphere is clean and friendly. One of the best restaurants in Dahlonega! After being in Dahlonega for a month, Spirits Tavern has been my go-to spot at least once a week. The atmosphere is trendy and friendly with lots of exposed brick, fun art, and craftsman style furniture. As the name suggests - they have a great selection of Spirits and their draft beer is always local and diverse. Service has been consistently great. Bartenders are engaging and always bring a smile. Wait staff are well trained and knowledgeable. This is the type of place that has a somewhat limited menu of items they execute very well. Burgers are cooked to temp and they can definitely deliver a property cooked burger medium. If you're trying to decide what to eat while in town - this is a great choice with plenty to offer for every palate! Don't miss the tater tots, chicken bites, or the brownie for dessert!

We stopped here for a late lunch after exploring the area. We got in right away, a little break in what seems to be a heavy stream of business. I had the bleufushion burger made with grass fed beef and a side of tater tots. The tater tots were hot salty and crispy- just as the should be. The burger was delicious. Served medium rare as I had ordered. It was huge, and very flavorful. My only ding is the service was a bit slow once we ordered but if you want a really good burger- give this place a try!

We were in town for a wedding and Spirits Tavern was just a block away from our stay. After reading reviews and talking to locals, it was deemed the spot to go. The vibe is overall very causal which we loved. We were instantly greeted and put on a short waitlist of 25 mins. Service was friendly and quick once we sat down. Our waitress was great and happy to make recommendations. I ordered the Dragon's Breath burger with Kalettes and my boyfriend ordered the Imposter with Fried Green Beans. Burgers are cooked to order which is always a plus! We savored every bite! It was so good, nothing was left on my plate! Overall, we loved Spirits Tavern so much we came here twice during our four day stay. Highly recommend!
